Frequently asked questions
What types of content can I personalize on my website?
You can personalize virtually any content on your website. This includes headlines and body text, images and graphics, CTAs and button text, links and destinations, testimonials and social proof, pricing displays, entire page sections (show/hide), and form fields. RightMessage uses CSS selectors to target any element, so if it's on the page, you can personalize it.
How does RightMessage personalize based on ad campaigns?
RightMessage reads UTM parameters from your URLs (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term) and uses them to determine which personalization to show. When someone clicks your Facebook ad with utm_campaign=productivity, they see productivity-focused messaging. Click a Google ad with utm_campaign=roi, they see ROI-focused copy.
UTM values are stored in browser storage so they persist across pages and sessions. You can also personalize based on referral source for organic traffic.
What data can I use from my email platform for personalization?
RightMessage integrates with major email platforms including Kit (ConvertKit), Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, Drip, Klaviyo, and Customer.io. We can pull custom field values (name, company, industry), tags and list memberships, purchase history, and engagement data.
When a subscriber visits your site, we identify them by email and load their complete profile. This data is available in real-time for personalization - no sync delays.
How does the A/B testing work?
Every personalization campaign includes built-in A/B testing with configurable control groups (10-50% of visitors). Control visitors see your original content while the rest see personalized versions. RightMessage tracks conversions for both groups, calculates statistical significance using z-scores and p-values, and reports lift with confidence intervals.
You'll know exactly how much each personalization improves conversions, with statistical confidence levels so you can trust the results.
Will personalization slow down my website?
No. RightMessage personalizes content in under 100 milliseconds - faster than most visitors can perceive. Elements being personalized are briefly hidden while we determine the right variant, then instantly updated. The effect is seamless.
Our JavaScript snippet is optimized for performance and loads asynchronously so it never blocks your page from rendering.
Do I need developer help to set up personalization?
No coding is required. Installation is a single JavaScript snippet that works like adding Google Analytics. Once installed, you use our visual editor to create personalizations by pointing and clicking on elements. Select what you want to change, choose which audience should see the change, and publish.
If you can install the Meta pixel or Google Analytics, you can install RightMessage.
Can I personalize for multiple segments at once?
Absolutely. You can create variants for as many segments as you need within a single campaign. RightMessage supports complex targeting with AND/OR logic - for example, show a specific headline to visitors who are from the SaaS industry AND clicked a Facebook ad AND have visited your pricing page.
Our analytics show how each segment combination performs so you can identify your highest-converting audiences.
What platforms does RightMessage work with?
RightMessage works on any website that allows custom JavaScript. This includes WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Unbounce, Leadpages, Kajabi, ClickFunnels, Carrd, custom-built sites, and more. If you can add a script tag, RightMessage will work.
You don't need to migrate to a new platform or change how you build pages. RightMessage layers on top of whatever you're already using.
How do I know which personalizations are working?
RightMessage provides real-time analytics showing pageviews, personalized experiences delivered, conversions, and conversion rates. You can see performance broken down by segment combination, comparing each variant against your control group.
The dashboard shows statistical significance so you know when results are conclusive. Once a personalization reaches significance, you can confidently roll it out to 100% of that audience.
Can I personalize based on behavior, not just who they are?
Yes. RightMessage tracks visitor behavior including pages viewed, visit frequency, content consumed, and engagement patterns. You can personalize based on actions like: visited pricing page 3+ times, read multiple articles about a topic, downloaded a specific resource, or spent over 5 minutes on site.
Combine behavioral signals with demographic data for precise targeting - for example, SaaS companies who have visited pricing twice this week.
What happens if a visitor matches multiple segments?
Variants are evaluated in priority order. You control the order, so the most specific or important personalizations take precedence. For example, you might prioritize enterprise visitors over industry-specific messaging.
If no variants match, visitors see your default (original) content. This means you can progressively personalize - start with broad segments and add more specific ones over time.
