Create, switch, and delete projects

Keep separate businesses in their own projects. You'll learn how to add a project, switch between them, or permanently delete one you own.

Keep each unrelated business in its own project, with its own settings and reporting. You can use one login to work across several projects.

Current subscriptions are per project. Creating another project doesn't add it to an existing subscription. Your organization's 14-day trial covers only its first project, so each project you add is charged when you set up its billing. Legacy account-wide subscriptions have their own project limits.

Create a project

  1. Open the project selector in the top bar.
  2. Choose New project at the bottom of the list.
  3. If you're an owner or admin of more than one organization, choose the Organization the project goes in. It starts on the current project's organization.
  4. Enter Project Name, such as WorkForge (opens in a new tab).
  5. Enter your site's address in Website URL. For WorkForge, that's https://workforge.rightmessage.com/.
  6. Choose Create Project.
  7. In the billing dialog, choose the project's plan and a card. If this is the first project in its organization, the dialog is Start your 14-day trial and you choose Start 14-day trial. Otherwise it's Start this project's plan, and Pay amount and start charges the plan right away. See which projects get a trial.

You can also choose New project on Your account > Projects.

Your new project opens onboarding. If you see a research warning, you can still use the project. The website might not support automatic research.

A legacy project limit can replace the form with an upgrade message. On legacy account-wide billing or a free account, the existing subscription or free account covers the new project, so you won't see the billing step. If billing setup doesn't finish, the project has no plan yet: you can keep building, and publishing asks you to set up its billing. If billing setup fails after creation, check the project selector before creating another copy. The project may already exist.

If you create a project in an organization where someone else is the billing owner, you won't see the billing step. The organization's billing owner chooses its plan.

In an agency organization, a new project starts as an agency demo project, with no plan or trial and no billing step. You can build and preview it, but it can't go live until you choose a plan for it. That plan has no trial and is billed with the agency discount. When the organization already has as many demo projects as it's allowed, the form says so. Choose a plan for one, delete one, or ask support to raise the limit.

If your account has no projects, RightMessage opens a setup page. Choose Create a new project to open the same form.

Switch to another project

  1. Open the project selector.
  2. Choose the project you'd like to work on.

RightMessage opens that project's dashboard. Projects are grouped by the organization they belong to, starting with your own organizations. Choose an organization's name to open its page. Projects you reach through an agency show the agency's name after via. If you have more than six projects, you can search the selector by name or website. Agency-managed projects can have a Client label, and agency demo projects a Demo label. The selector also shows whether you're the Owner or a Collaborator on the current project, and Project settings at the bottom opens its settings.

To see every project at once, open Your account (the avatar at the bottom of the sidebar), then Projects. Your projects lists each project you own or work on, with its website, your role, who owns it, and its plan. Choose Open to switch to one. To share your own project, invite a collaborator.

Delete a project you own

The project's owner can delete it, and so can the owners and admins of its organization. To stop future billing, use subscription cancellation rather than treating deletion as a billing control.

  1. Switch to the project you want to delete.
  2. Open Project settings (the gear at the bottom of the sidebar), then General.
  3. Under Danger zone, choose Delete project.
  4. Type the project's name to confirm.
  5. Choose Delete with the project's name to remove it, or Cancel to keep it.

RightMessage then takes you to another project you can open. If this is the only project you can open, owned or shared with you, Delete project stays disabled until you create another one, so there's somewhere to go afterward.

Deleting a project cancels its lead alerts volume, if it has one, with credit for the unused time. If that cancellation fails, the project isn't deleted and you'll see This project's lead alerts subscription couldn't be canceled. Try again, or contact support.

If you'd rather keep the project and clear its reporting, read about resetting analytics before deleting anything. To delete your whole login along with every project you own, see deleting your account.
