Manage your organization and its members
Give your team access to every project at once. You'll invite people to your organization, choose what they can reach, and control which agencies work on your projects.
Updated
View as MarkdownAdd your team once, and they can work on every project you have, instead of inviting each person to each project. Your organization is also where you see which agencies can reach your projects and end their access when you need to.
How organizations work
Every account that owns projects has an organization. It's named after you, such as "Jordan's organization", or after your agency. Projects you create go in it, and you're its Owner.
The person who created the organization is its billing owner. Each project still has its own plan, the billing owner pays for it, and only they can manage plans and billing. Organization roles never include billing.
| If they should… | Give them |
|---|---|
| Manage every project and the organization, including other owners | Owner |
| Manage every project and the organization's members, but not owners | Admin |
| Work on every project | Member with All projects |
| Work only on projects you pick | Member with Selected projects |
Owners and admins can open every project in the organization, manage its collaborators, reset its analytics, and delete it. Members with All projects can edit every project, the way a collaborator can. Members with Selected projects only see the projects someone adds them to as a collaborator.
Open your organization
- Open Your account (the avatar at the bottom of the sidebar), then Organizations.
- Under Your organizations, choose Open next to the organization.
Each row shows your role. Agency organizations have an Agency tag and show how many demo projects they're using. You can also open an organization you belong to by choosing its name at the top of its group in the project selector.
Under General, you'll see the Organization name and Your role. Owners and admins can rename the organization, and the name saves as you type.
Invite someone
Owners and admins see these controls under Members.
- Choose Role for new members: Admin or Member. Owners can also choose Owner.
- For a member, choose Project access: All projects or Selected projects. Owners and admins always get All projects.
- Enter their email address in Invite by email, then choose Invite.
If they already have a RightMessage account with a verified email address, they join right away, and we email them to let them know. Anyone else gets an invitation email, and their row shows Invite pending until they accept it. An invitation expires after seven days. After that, invite them again.
The same invitation safety limits and email verification rules as project invitations apply.
Accept an invitation to an organization
- Open the link in your invitation email. The page names the organization and the role you've been invited as.
- Choose Sign in to accept, and sign in with the email address the invitation went to. If you don't have an account yet, create one with that address, then open the link again.
- Choose Accept invitation.
The organization's projects then appear in your project selector. If you're signed in with a different email address, you'll see This invitation was sent to a different email address. If the page says the invitation was canceled, already used, or never existed, ask whoever invited you to send a new one.
Change or remove a member
Owners and admins can change a member's role or project access with the menus on their row. Admins can't change owners or make someone an owner, and an organization always needs at least one owner. The row marked Billing owner can't be changed or removed.
To remove someone:
- Choose Remove on their row.
- In the confirmation, choose Remove.
They lose access to the organization and its projects right away, including any collaborator access they had to those projects. You can't undo this, but you can invite them again.
On a pending invitation, choose Cancel, then Cancel invitation. Its link stops working, and you can invite that address again later.
End agency access
If an agency works on your projects, it's listed under Agency access with the date its access started. Everyone on that agency's team can open all of your organization's projects, and your projects show Managed by with the agency's name at the top of the sidebar.
- Choose End agency access next to the agency.
- In the confirmation, choose End access.
Every member of the agency's team loses access to all of your projects right away. Your plan, subscription, and project data stay exactly as they are. You can't undo this from the app, so contact support if you want to give the agency access again.
For agencies: your team, clients, and demo projects
Agency-enabled accounts have an agency organization. Invite your team to it, and its owners, admins, and members with All projects can open every linked client's projects. In the project selector, those projects are grouped under the client's organization, with your agency's name after via.
Clients lists the client organizations linked to your agency. Clients join this list when they sign up through your signup link or invitation. To stop working with one, choose End, then End access. Your whole team loses access to that client's projects, and their plan and data stay as they are.
New projects in an agency organization start as demo projects. A demo project has no plan or trial, so you can build and preview it freely, but it can't go live on a site until you choose a plan for it. Demo projects have a Demo tag in the project selector, and their dashboard says Agency demo project.
Each agency organization can hold a limited number of demo projects. Demo projects on the organization page shows how many you're using, such as "3 of 10 demo projects". At the limit, choose a plan for one or delete one before you create another, or ask support to raise the limit. Publishing a demo project from an AI assistant or the REST API is refused until it has a plan.
