Number question reference
You'll see how to collect numbers, set limits and increments, and show units without changing the saved answer.
A Number question lets you collect an amount or quantity and use it to decide what to show next.
When to use it
Use it when you need a numeric answer rather than a list of choices. WorkForge (opens in a new tab) could ask how many projects a team manages each month, then compare that number in a condition.
Settings
| Control | Default and behavior |
|---|---|
| Minimum | No minimum. Sets the lower accepted value. |
| Maximum | No maximum. Sets the upper accepted value. |
| Step | No saved restriction. The editor shows 1 as a hint, not a configured default. A positive value restricts increments. |
| Prefix | Empty. Text before the number. |
| Suffix | Empty. Text after the number, such as hours. |
| Placeholder | Empty. A hint inside the field. |
| Required | Off. Visitors can skip. |
Which numbers visitors can enter
The value must be a finite number within the configured limits. Zero is valid unless Minimum excludes it. Without a Step restriction, decimals are accepted. With Step, increments start at Minimum when set, otherwise at zero. For a minimum of 1 and a step of 2, valid answers include 1, 3, and 5.
Prefix and Suffix are display text. They aren't included in the numeric answer. To show a slider, choose the Slider question type. There isn't a display switch that turns a Number question into one. Older percentage-style questions remain Number questions unless they use slider display.
How answers are stored and synced
Save answers to shows your connected platform's name and offers compatible native or custom fields. An unmapped answer can still appear in Responses. A field mapping alone doesn't identify the visitor.
Number answers don't automatically create segments or answer branches. Use input-answer conditions to compare the saved number. A linked form field submits with its form.
The question-editor preview doesn't record answers or send data to your email platform. Edits to an existing question save to your draft automatically and affect every use after you publish.
See shared question settings for wording and button labels, the Questions library reference for creation and reuse, and answer sync for identification and destination checks.
