Country question reference
You'll see how to choose which countries to offer, preselect a visitor's country, and save their answer as a country code.
A Country question lets visitors choose a country by name, then saves a two-letter ISO country code such as US or GB.
When to use it
Use it when you want visitors to tell you their country. Their answer can differ from their detected location. WorkForge (opens in a new tab) could use the answer to show regional resources.
Settings
| Control | Default and behavior |
|---|---|
| Show first | No pinned countries. Selected countries appear first in the order you add them. |
| Hide these countries | No exclusions. Hidden countries cannot be selected. |
| Pre-select the visitor's country | On. Uses the detected location when that country is offered. The visitor can change it. |
| Placeholder | Select a country. Shown until a country is selected. |
| Required | Off. Visitors can skip the question. |
Pinned countries appear before a divider, followed by the remaining countries. An exclusion wins over a pin. An excluded detected country is not preselected. If detection is unavailable or disabled, the dropdown starts without a country. Country names use the visitor's browser language where supported.
Visitors choose from the countries you offer rather than entering text. A required question needs a selection.
How answers are stored and synced
Use the saved answer in a condition when you want to act on the country someone chose. An IP-location condition checks their detected location instead.
Save answers to shows your connected platform's name and offers compatible native or custom fields. An unmapped answer can still appear in Responses. A field mapping alone doesn't identify the visitor.
Country answers don't automatically create segments or answer branches. Use input-answer conditions to compare the selected country. A linked form field submits with its form.
The question-editor preview doesn't record answers or send data to your email platform. Edits to an existing question save to your draft automatically and affect every use after you publish.
See shared question settings for wording and button labels, the Questions library reference for creation and reuse, and answer sync for identification and destination checks.
