Questions library reference
You can find, create, and reuse questions in your library. See what the counts mean, where each question is used, and what happens when you copy or delete it.
Questions keeps the questions you use in flows and forms in one shared library. You can find a question, see where it's used, or make an independent copy without starting again.
Multiple choice and Yes / No questions have answer segments. The other question types collect input values.
Find a question
| If you'd like to… | Use |
|---|---|
| Change how the library appears | Grid or List. Grid is the default. Both show the same questions. |
| Filter by question type | All questions, Segmenting, or Collecting info, each with a count. |
| Find questions used in a flow | The flow filter, with all flows or one particular flow selected. |
| Find questions used in forms | All form usage, Used in forms, or Not used in forms. |
| Search by name, wording, or type | Search questions. |
| Change the order | Sort by most or fewest responses, highest or lowest answer rate, or name in ascending or descending order. Most responses is the default. |
| Change the reporting window | The date range. The ordinary default is the last 30 days. |
| Remove the narrowing | Clear filters removes the type, flow, form-usage, and search filters. |
Understand the counts
The library reports Questions, Responses, Visitors segmented, and Visitors identified.
Responses adds the respondent count for each question. One visitor answering five questions can add five to the total. It isn't a count of unique people across questions.
Visitors segmented counts unique visitors with relevant memberships. Visitors identified concerns identification through email questions. Segment membership totals can exceed unique visitors, especially when you allow multiple answers. Missing report coverage shows as unavailable, not zero.
In Grid, choice cards show answer counts and shares. The five most common answers appear first. Show includes the number of remaining answers and reveals them. Show less collapses them again.
Segments applied counts memberships, while the answer rows count recorded respondents. Lift compares how much more or less those segment members browse than the rest of your audience, using current membership. It isn't an increase in answer rate or evidence that the question caused more browsing.
Input cards show up to three latest answers. Card footers show Responses, Answer rate, and Flows. Answer rate is the share of visitors shown the question who answered within the report's scope. The question reporting reference explains which display records are needed to calculate it.
A Radio question can show a Buttons badge on its library card. The badge doesn't change its actual control. Check the question's settings for its display type.
Create a question
New question opens a drawer with Segment visitors and Collect info. Search by a type name or describe what you'd like to ask. Righty can suggest wording and a type. Choose Use this when a suggestion is ready. A loading or unavailable suggestion isn't a saved question, and you can still choose a type yourself.
There are 16 creation types:
Open-ended (legacy) can describe a saved choice question with a write-in follow-up. It isn't a new creation tile. Percentage is an option on Slider, not a separate type.
A new draft stays local until you choose Create question or Add to flow. Back returns to the type picker and discards that local draft. Closing or leaving with a draft opens Discard Question?, where you can choose Keep Editing or Discard.
Creating a question from the library doesn't insert it into a flow.
Edit and preview a question
The question page has an editable internal name. Its header shows the type, flow usage, sync state, and email-identification state where relevant.
The tabs are Results, Activity, Setup, Sync, A/B test, and Uses. Choice questions also have Auto-Segment. The Sync label names your connected provider.
Setup uses the same editor as the flow drawer. Existing edits autosave to the project draft. Closing the editor doesn't undo saved edits, and a failed save doesn't publish anything.
The preview shows the question using the selected widget design where available. You can try fields and answer selection without recording analytics, identifying visitors, running custom code, or sending data to a provider.
Email identification and consent
| Setting | Default and what it does |
|---|---|
| Identify the visitor | On. Needs a supported, connected email platform or CRM. Turning it off saves the response without identification and hides contact-action and consent controls. |
| Contact action | Available actions depend on your provider. A form, list, or tag action needs at least one destination. An existing-contact-only provider can't create contacts from the question. |
| Suggest fixes for typos | On. Offers corrections for recognized email-domain typos. It doesn't verify that an inbox exists. |
| Show a disclosure | Off. When on, shows the Disclosure text setting. |
| Show a consent checkbox | Off. When on, shows Checkbox label, which defaults to "I agree to receive emails." |
If a displayed checkbox stays unticked, RightMessage keeps the response without identifying the visitor or updating the provider. Required controls whether someone can skip the question, not whether they must grant consent. You can therefore have email answers in Responses that didn't identify anyone.
See the Email reference for all settings, or identify contacts with an email question for setup and testing.
Auto-Segment and sync
Auto-Segment assigns a choice answer from rules without asking the visitor. Edit rules opens an answer's conditions, and Done closes the drawer. An answer with no automatic rules shows Only when asked.
Auto-synced conditions come from the Sync mapping. Change that mapping rather than looking for a second editable set of rules. A running question A/B test locks these rules until the test ends.
Add group creates another way to match the answer. Any matching group can assign the answer. Within a new group, all conditions must match together. Each condition and group has a delete control.
For example, WorkForge (opens in a new tab) could put a known subscription status and a matching business type in one group. A second group could cover a different qualifying combination.
Each condition uses a source, comparison, and value. The answer's label alone doesn't define the rule. Generate Conditions can draft rules from a description. Once rules exist, AI Generate can revise them. Review generated conditions before using them.
Answer visibility rules only control which choices appear. They don't assign segments. The widget's Question handling setting decides whether an already-known question is skipped. See segment visitors with survey answers for setup.
Shared questions and copies
Editing a shared question changes it everywhere after publication. See where and Uses show where those changes will apply. In a flow, Use a copy in this flow instead opens a confirmation that explains what will become separate.
Use a copy creates new question and answer IDs and replaces the question on the selected flow node. Other nodes keep the original, including other uses in that same flow.
The copy starts with no responses. The original keeps all existing responses, including earlier responses from the selected node. Campaigns, conditions, and segments that target the original don't automatically target the copy.
More actions also offers Duplicate for an independent library copy. A duplicate isn't another view of the original's response history.
Uses and deletion
Uses lists asking and routing flows, linked form fields, campaigns, widgets, other questions or groups, phrases, and email personalization references. Flow usage distinguishes asking, branching, conditions, and setting an answer. Email reference lookup can be unavailable while other uses remain visible.
More actions, then Delete, opens a confirmation that lists dependencies. Previous-answer conditions can block deletion and link to the objects that reference the question. The dialog explains which other dependencies you can remove or retain.
Check that list before deleting. Deleting a library question can remove linked form controls.
Question deletion keeps historical responses. Permanently deleting selected rows in Responses is a different action. Neither action establishes a universal retention period.
If you can't find a question
An empty library offers New question. A filtered empty library offers Clear filters. If you see Questions are unavailable right now, choose Retry.
Missing statistics don't mean the editable question has disappeared. A deleted or invalid question link shows a not-found page.
For help interpreting reports, see question reporting and activity. For locked wording or behavior, see question A/B tests.
