You'll check your personalized page for each audience and combination, try different screen widths, and preview unpublished changes on your website.

See your page as different visitors would see it before you publish. Preview combines matching audiences, so you can check both the individual changes and how they work together.

Switch to Preview

Open the campaign editor and choose Preview at the top. The audience list and element editor give way to a browsable page with a Preview as: bar near the bottom.

Start with a campaign that has audiences and page changes. If none of its audiences change the open page, the bar says No audiences change this page yet.

Choose who you're previewing

The Preview as: bar has a picker for each relevant question or segment group. Open a picker to choose a segment. Each option shows the audience names and number of changes associated with it.

Only segments used by audiences with changes found on this page appear. An audience that changes another page won't add an option here.

  • Choose a segment to preview a visitor in it.
  • Choose None to preview someone with no selected segment in that group.
  • If the group allows visitors to match several segments, use its checkboxes to select more than one.
  • Use the arrows beside a picker to step through its options, including None.

Choose values in more than one group to try combinations. For example, WorkForge (opens in a new tab) could preview an agency owner whose main goal is keeping clients informed. Both audiences' changes apply if that visitor matches their targeting.

An audience that requires all of these segments appears only when your choices satisfy all its rules. To check the unchanged page, choose None in every picker.

Combine choices in Preview as to check the page for different visitors.

Understand the combination count

The total combinations count includes None and every combination available through the visible pickers. Two single-choice groups with two segments each have three choices apiece, including None, for nine combinations.

For a group that allows several matches, the count includes selecting its segments together as well as separately. It counts preview choices, not visitors or page changes.

See which audiences changed the page

Changed elements have outlines in Preview. Hover over an outlined element to see the names of the audiences changing it.

If the combined page doesn't show the wording you expected, check overlapping audiences. One audience's replacement can overwrite another's content.

Choose Edit to return to making changes.

In Preview, links navigate instead of selecting elements for editing. Use the page's links to check the next step visitors will take.

You can also enter a URL in Page address and click Go. Back returns to the previous page, and Reload page reloads the current one. The audience pickers reflect the changes found on the page you open.

Use Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile at the top to check different page widths. Look for long headlines, cramped buttons, and sections that move or disappear in a smaller layout.

If you're seeing a Copy of your page, some appearance or interactions can differ from your live website. See how the campaign editor loads your site if you need to resolve that.

Check the unpublished page on your website

Click Preview on your site to try your unpublished changes on your real website with the debugger. Use it to check the audience matches and the complete visitor journey before publishing.

Follow testing your changes for the on-site checks. When the matching audiences and the original page look right, publish your changes.
