Troubleshoot campaign editor page loading
You'll learn why the campaign editor shows a copy of your page, how to try the live page again, and what to do if neither loads.
Get your page ready to edit without changing how ordinary visitors use your website. The campaign editor tries your live page first when it belongs to your project's websites and RightMessage has received activity from the installed snippet.
The live page runs in a safe RightMessage preview with RightMessage tracking off. If the live page can't connect to the editing tools, the editor tries a copy instead. Within about 20 seconds, you should have either a usable page or controls to recover from the loading problem.
I see a copy instead of my live page
You can keep editing the copy. The notice explains why it's being used and warns that it may look or work differently from your live site. When collapsed, the notice reads Copy of your page.
If the notice says Your live page couldn’t open earlier, so this copy may look or work a little differently., follow Fix a live page that won't open in the campaign editor. That article covers framing restrictions, snippet installation, the one-time publish needed for older snippets, and Try the live page again.
The same checks help with the other live-page notices. Install RightMessage and Add your website both open Project settings > Website & install, where you'll find the snippet and your domains. How to fix it or Why? expands the notice's explanation.
You can keep using the copy if your site's security policy doesn't allow live editing. Use Preview on your site to check the draft on your actual website.
The notice explains why you're editing a copy and how to retry your live page.
Neither the live page nor the copy loads
When you see We couldn’t load your page, use one of these controls:
- Retry tries loading the current page again.
- Reload page requests a fresh copy rather than reusing a cached one.
- Open another page lets you enter a different URL. Choose Open page to load it.
- Preview on your site opens the draft on your actual website with the debugger.
If you see You don’t have access to this page, check that you're signed in and have access to the project, then retry.
Open the same URL in a normal browser too. If it fails there, resolve the missing page, website outage, login requirement, redirect loop, or certificate problem first. Don't put passwords or private account links into the editor's address field.
The copy looks different or out of date
Choose Preview, then use Reload page beside the page address to request a fresh copy. Check that the URL is the published page you intended, rather than a website-builder preview or a different redirect destination.
A copy can display images, animation, or interactive content differently. It isn't the final check of what visitors will see. Use Preview on your site to check your draft's layout, links, and audience rules on the real website.
The element pickers used by conversion goals, widgets, and flows also load page copies. If their view differs from your website, check the chosen element on the actual page before publishing.
A link takes me outside my project's sites
When navigation leaves your project's websites, the editor shows This link leaves your project’s sites and the destination URL. Choose Back to return to the page you were editing.
Choose Preview to use the editor's Page address field and open the page you meant to work on. Opening a page doesn't create a personalization change. See the campaign editor reference for navigation and editing controls.
I still need help
Send support your project and campaign names, the page URL with sensitive values removed, your browser version, and a screenshot of the notice or error. Include whether the URL works outside the editor and whether Reload page or Try the live page again changed the result.
Don't send passwords, cookies, private page contents, or signed debugger links. If the editor works but visitors still see the original content, follow personalization troubleshooting.
