Hear about it when someone already in your email platform does something on your website that you'd want to follow up on, like comparing plans or coming back to your pricing page again and again. You write who you're looking for the way you'd brief a colleague, and RightMessage checks each of their visits against it. When someone matches, you get an email that explains why, and RightMessage can tag them or update their contact so your email platform can follow up too.

Lead alerts only check identified people: visitors whose email address RightMessage knows, usually because they came from one of your emails or filled in a form. They don't identify anonymous visitors. To get more of your visitors identified, see how identification works.

Open Lead alerts

Select People in the sidebar, then choose Lead alerts next to the search field. You can also search for "Lead alerts" with Search, create, or ask Righty….

Describe who you want to hear about

  1. Choose New rule. It starts with an example you can change.
  2. Give the rule a short Name. It appears in your alert emails, so pick something you'll recognize, such as "Ready to buy".
  3. Under Who you want to hear about, describe the people in plain words: who they are and what they do on your site. For example, WorkForge (opens in a new tab) might write "People who aren't customers yet, looking at pricing or the team-management pages, or coming back several times in a week like they're comparing options."
  4. Check the Send email action. A new rule emails you by default. Add teammates' addresses, separated by commas.
  5. Choose Save.

Each rule judges a whole visit, along with the person's earlier visits, their segments, and their contact in your email platform, so you can mention any of those. If you describe customers, RightMessage looks at whether they're a customer now: someone who used to be a customer counts as a non-customer.

A rule only applies to visits checked after you save it. Visits that were already checked aren't checked again when you add or reword a rule.

Tag them or update their contact

Besides the email, a rule can change the person's contact in your connected email platform when they match. Choose Add action, then:

  • Apply tag to tag them.
  • Add to list to add them to a list.
  • Set custom field to save a value, such as "Hot lead", in one of their fields.

These actions only change people who are already contacts in your email platform. Lead alerts never create a contact. Actions your platform can't do are unavailable in Add action, with the reason. The lead alerts reference lists every action and its limits.

Turn rules on and off

The switch beside each rule turns it on or off right away, without saving anything else. A rule that's off isn't checked. To change a rule's wording or actions, choose its menu, then Edit. Delete removes the rule; visits it already checked keep their results.

Check who's been flagged

RightMessage checks a visit about 20 minutes after the person's last page view. When the visit matches a rule that's on, it shows up under Alerts on this page and the rule's actions run. Choose All checked visits to see everyone who was checked, including people who didn't match, and how each rule judged them.

Select a row to see the full story: a short summary of why they matter, how each rule judged the visit, what the actions did, Righty's read on them, and every page they viewed. Copy to AI agent copies all of it, ready to paste into an AI assistant to help you write a follow-up.

The same person won't trigger the same rule again for 7 days, so a busy week doesn't flood your inbox. The lead alerts reference explains every column, label, and limit.

When a real visit lands in Alerts and the email arrives, it's working. Next, open the person's profile from the alert to see everything they've done on your site.
