Use this page to understand the activity, answers, and contact data you see in a visitor profile. Activity in the sidebar shows your visitor feed. Open a profile to see what one visitor or identified contact has done on your website.

Access and missing visitors

Visitor-profile access applies to both the page and its data requests. Without access, you'll see Visitor Profiles require the Pro plan instead of the feed.

Could not load visitors means the request failed. Choose Try again. No recent visitors means no visitors match your filters and date range. Clear filters removes the narrowing filters.

Activity filters

To find…Use
A person, location, or pageFind by email, location or URL. This search starts empty.
Known and anonymous visitors togetherEveryone, the default identity filter.
Visitors with a recorded email identityKnown.
Visitors without a recorded email identityAnonymous. These visitors can still have page activity and answers.
Visitors from a traffic sourceSource, with Any source, Paid ads, Email, Organic search, Referral, or Direct.
Visitors in a segmentSegment, then a segment from the available groups. Clear segment removes it.
Visitors who saw a particular URLVisited URL, which starts empty.
Visits during a particular periodThe project's selected date range. This doesn't change how long data is retained.
Visitors hidden by your filtersClear filters. Check the date range separately if the visit falls outside it.

Filters combine. Even the right email can show no matching visitors if another filter excludes the visit. Changing a filter takes you back to the first page.

Live updates and pages

Live updates start enabled. Pause live holds the list in place while new visitor data arrives. A pill shows the buffered new activity. Choose that pill or Resume live to apply the updates and resume the stream.

Pausing changes this view only. Your website keeps tracking activity.

The feed shows 50 rows per page. You can access the newest 10,000 matching rows. If you reach that limit, narrow the date range to see older visitors. Page controls are disabled while the list updates.

The on-site strip appears on the first page. On site now means a visitor was last seen within five minutes, not that their browser is necessarily still open.

Visitor rows and quick look

Each row shows Visitor, Arrived from, then, Intent, and Last seen. Arrival and page details can include recorded personalization, question, offer, or form activity.

Select a visitor to open quick look. It shows their available identity, location, device, browser, on-site status, and recent activity. Open full profile opens the detailed page.

Exclude from analytics asks for confirmation, then hides the person's past and future activity immediately. It doesn't delete the contact. See exclude test activity.

How Activity classifies arrival sources

Arrival describes the first page in a session, not every page visited afterward. A profile's latest arrival comes from its latest session.

RightMessage checks arrival signals in this order:

  1. A paid-ad UTM medium counts as paid traffic.
  2. Email signals count as email traffic.
  3. An organic medium counts as organic traffic.
  4. Any remaining UTM source counts as referral traffic.
  5. Without those signals, a recognized external search referrer counts as organic traffic.
  6. Another external referrer counts as referral traffic.
  7. A same-host or missing referrer counts as direct traffic.

For example, a visitor who lands on WorkForge (opens in a new tab) with utm_medium=cpc arrived from paid traffic, even if they later follow internal links. Missing referral data can appear as direct.

Arrival source is separate from a UTM condition's occurrence setting. It doesn't change your lead-attribution field overwrite rules.

Profile header

You can open a profile by visitor ID or email. An identified contact's profile can bring together activity from multiple browser visitor IDs. Another device still needs its own identification event.

The header shows the available name, email, location, device, browser, first and last seen times, and on-site status. Suspected bot appears when that classification is available.

Refresh reloads profile activity. The provider's Data tab has its own refresh control.

View site as them opens a signed debugger session using the contact's email. It opens their most recent page, or the first configured project domain. You need an identified email and a usable destination. This action isn't available in the public demo, and it doesn't send the visitor a message.

Activity tab

Activity opens by default. Its filters are All, Pages, Personalization, and Offers & forms. They change the events you see, not what your website collects.

Each session shows its arrival source, time, duration, page count, and recorded events. A gap longer than 30 minutes starts a new session.

Page duration uses the time until the next recorded pageview. If that gap is over 60 minutes, the page has no duration value. RightMessage doesn't count it as a 60-minute visit. These timings come from recorded activity, not a measurement of the visitor's attention.

The profile loads 50 pageviews at a time and groups them into sessions. Load More requests older pageviews when they're available. Counts and activity describe the loaded timeline, which may not include the visitor's full history. A gap or the end of a loaded page doesn't mean there's no older activity.

Segmentation tab

Segmentation shows segment groups, their question wording when available, and matched segment labels. Filter segments narrows the list.

No segmentation data means either the visitor has no assignments or none match your filter. Clear the filter to check.

Multiple choice and Yes / No answers have segments. Number, text, and other input questions have typed answers instead, so this tab isn't a list of every answer someone entered.

Responses tab

Responses appears when the profile has recorded responses. It shows response cards that you can filter. No Responses means there are no displayed open-ended responses for the current state.

The response count doesn't count every multiple-choice interaction. The project-wide Responses page has more filters, plus export and deletion controls. See manage responses.

Connected provider's Data tab

This tab uses your provider's name, such as Acme CRM Data in the synthetic demo. It appears when the profile can request data from the connected provider.

Section or controlWhat it shows or does
ContactThe email, first name, last name, and provider contact ID returned by the integration.
Synced timeWhen RightMessage read the displayed provider data. It doesn't mean every historical answer was written then.
Sync nowRequests a fresh read of provider data. It's disabled while the request runs.
Standard fieldsAvailable native fields beyond the contact's name fields. This section appears only when applicable.
Custom fieldsProvider custom fields and their values. Empty values show a dash.
Filter fieldsNarrows the custom fields. Clear filters removes this filter.
Show 20 more fieldsAdds another batch of up to 20 fields. The first batch also contains up to 20.
TagsProvider tags, when the provider returns them.

Structured values can appear as formatted data. This tab doesn't provide a universal list-subscription editor or a way to resend every historical response.

Provider-data states

What you seeWhat it means
Loading placeholdersThe request is still running.
Contact not foundThe provider lookup didn't find a matching contact.
Unable to load integration dataThe read failed. Retry requests it again.
No integration dataThere's no data to display for the current state.
No custom fieldsThe provider returned no custom fields for this section.
No matching fieldsYour field filter excludes all available fields.

If a read fails or isn't available, check the integration and the contact in your email platform before changing mappings. A failed read doesn't tell you whether a provider field is empty.

Insights and intent

Intent summarizes recorded activity. RightMessage checks these rules in order:

LabelWhen it applies
HighAt least one recorded conversion, or at least 3 visits and 8 pages.
MediumIf High doesn't apply, at least 2 visits, at least 4 pages, or an identified visitor.
LowNone of those conditions apply.

These aren't the named lead scores used in flow conditions or a prediction that someone will buy. A visitor may be High because they've already converted.

The feed uses its reported visitor counts. A full profile calculates intent from its loaded timeline, starting with 50 pageviews. Load More adds older activity. The labels can differ when the feed and profile cover different activity.

Profiles identified by email with a connected provider also have Insights and a generated summary. A confirmed Contact not found hides Insights. A failed or unavailable lookup remains retryable. An anonymous visitor-ID profile doesn't gain Insights because it has many pageviews.

You can also open Insights through Read full insights → above the profile tabs.

Available sections include Who they are, What they care about, Website journey, Offer & form engagement, Intent & opportunity, and Recommended next step. Some profiles don't have enough verified information for insights.

Regenerate requests an updated summary. If generation fails, use Retry. No Visitor Insights Yet, generation in progress, and generation failure are different states. Missing information isn't a negative buying signal.

See review high-intent visitors to use these details when choosing a visitor's next offer or considering follow-up.
