Get started with RightMessage
Let's get you going! In this guide, you'll learn how to set up RightMessage on your website and decide what you'd like to do with it first.

1. Create your project
Start a free trial (opens in a new tab) and tell us which website you'd like to use RightMessage on. It's free for 14 days, and you don't need a credit card. We'll create your first project and name it after your domain.
Already have an account? Open the project switcher, choose Add a new project, then enter a Project Name and Website URL.
Then our AI-assisted onboarding takes over. It reads your homepage and key pages to learn about your business, your audience, and what you offer the world. Then it suggests a good first thing to build and helps you set it up. Follow along: anything it creates stays a draft until you publish it.

2. Add RightMessage to your website
Every project has its own snippet: a short piece of code that lets RightMessage run on your site.
- Open Settings, then JavaScript Snippet under Project.
- Keep Live website selected and copy the code under Snippet Code.
- Paste it into the
<head>of every page where you want RightMessage to run, then publish your site.
On WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Framer, or another site builder? Follow the guide for your platform. Using Google Tag Manager? See installing with Google Tag Manager.
Someone else looks after your website? In the dashboard's Get set up checklist, Email it to my developer drafts an email with your snippet and instructions, ready for you to send. Platform guides, next to it, opens the same platform guides linked above.
Install the snippet only once. If a plugin, theme, or tag manager already adds it, don't paste it in again. Setting up a staging site first? Read about the live and development snippets before you install there.
3. Check that it's working
- Visit a page on your site where you installed the snippet.
- Back in RightMessage, open Settings, then JavaScript Snippet, and look at Snippet Health.
A recent timestamp means RightMessage is receiving data.
Once we've seen a single page view, you can use Preview on your site to open your website with our debugger. You'll find it in the publish bar at the bottom of the dashboard whenever you have unpublished changes. The debugger shows what RightMessage knows about you as a visitor and what it's showing you, so it's the quickest way to figure out what's going on.
No timestamp after a few minutes? Start with installation troubleshooting.
4. Connect your email platform or CRM
This is a one-time step, and it's where RightMessage gets really useful. Once your email platform or CRM is connected, data flows back and forth between it and your website. That's how RightMessage generates leads for you, segments people in your CRM based on what they tell you, shows targeted messages and offers based on the segments you already have, and more.
- Open Integrations in the sidebar, or choose Connect email platform in the Get set up checklist.
- Under Email platforms & CRMs, choose your platform.
- Follow its connection steps. Depending on the platform, you'll sign in to it or paste in an API key.
Every platform has its own setup guide with exactly what to enter. Don't use an email platform yet? You can still get started. Plenty of first projects work without one.
5. Pick the first thing you'd like to do with RightMessage
Onboarding has probably suggested something already, based on your website. If you'd rather choose for yourself, here are some good places to start.

Test it, then go live
Before you publish, test your changes. Then publish and visit your site like any other visitor to make sure everything works.
Once it's live, see how it's doing before you add more.
