What should I build first with RightMessage?
You'll find help choosing what to build first, checking that it works on your website, and putting the answers you collect to use.

View as MarkdownStart with one page where you can help visitors take a useful next step. These answers will help you choose what to build, check it on your website, and use what people tell you before adding more questions or page versions.
What's a good place to start?
Recommend a useful page based on one thing you'd like to know about the visitor. For WorkForge (opens in a new tab), someone planning solo client work could go to its consultants page. Someone coordinating a team could go to its agencies page. People who aren't sure can still explore the homepage.
You don't need to define every audience or personalize every page. The app walkthrough shows you how to build a recommendation.
What should I do first if I have no email list?
Install RightMessage, then recommend a useful page from an anonymous answer or something you already know about the visit. You don't need an email integration for that.
Use real pages with something useful to offer. Creating a flow doesn't create an audience, a business offer, or a published page on your website. Start with recommending a page or product.
Where does the snippet go?
Put it in the <head> of every page where you want RightMessage to run. Copy it from Settings, then JavaScript Snippet, with Live website selected.
Install it once through your website platform, a plugin, or your tag manager. Don't add it through several methods at once. Follow your platform's guide or the Google Tag Manager guide.
How do I start collecting website activity?
Install the correct project's live snippet on your website, then visit a page and check Snippet Health for a recent timestamp. JavaScript needs to run, and the browser needs permission to send activity.
The development snippet disables analytics. After checking activity, test your widget, targeting, and any contact updates too.
Do I need to complete every item in the setup checklist?
No. Choose the items you need for what you're building. You don't need a campaign or an identified contact to recommend a page from an anonymous answer.
The dashboard's Get set up checklist tracks separate milestones. Your snippet can be confirmed before a flow goes live. An email connection can exist before RightMessage identifies its first contact. A campaign is a separate website-personalization step.
Which guide should I follow?
Pick the guide that matches what you'd like to do:
- Survey new and existing subscribers to learn what your email list needs.
- Personalize your welcome email with a survey to give new subscribers relevant advice.
- Show customers a different next step instead of asking them to opt in again.
- Build a recommendation quiz to help people choose a product or service.
- Personalize one page for an audience you know.
- Match a landing page to an ad click to continue the ad's message on your site.
- Build a pilot for a client to review before a wider launch.
Should I use the app or an AI assistant?
Either can build the same draft. Use the app if you'd like to edit questions, branches, and widgets directly. Use an AI assistant if you'd rather describe what you want, then check what it builds.
The assistant needs an authorized MCP connection to your project. Installing skills gives it instructions, not access. Whichever way you build, preview the draft, review it before publishing, and check the real website afterward.
I've collected answers. What should I do with them?
Use an answer to recommend a page, show a relevant offer, or personalize an email with a preference you've confirmed is saved to the contact.
If an answer doesn't change anything for the visitor, you might not need to ask the question. You don't need more data before using what you already know.
Does preview mean my changes are live?
No. Preview can show unpublished changes and simulated visitor details. It lets you see the content, but you'll also need to check that a visitor following the real path qualifies to see it.
Publishing applies the whole pending project configuration. After reviewing and publishing, visit the public page without preview overrides.
Does connecting my email platform save answers to contacts?
No. RightMessage also needs to identify the browser and map the answer to the right field or tag. Then your provider needs to accept the update.
Inspect a test contact you control in the destination platform and check the exact field value. The subscriber survey guide walks through that setup.
How do I know it's working?
Follow the visitor's path and check that they reach the right page or offer. Try someone in your intended audience, someone you don't know anything about yet, and a returning visitor. Open the recommended link. If you're saving a preference, check the contact record too.
Record what you actually saw. A resource click isn't a booking, and a completed survey doesn't mean you've made more sales. Next, measure what visitors do.
