Integrating RightMessage with Beehiiv

Connect RightMessage with Beehiiv to sync subscriber data bidirectionally, personalize your site based on newsletter segments, and push quiz responses or form submissions directly to your Beehiiv account. This integration enables you to create targeted experiences for subscribers and automate follow-up sequences.

You'll need a Beehiiv API V2 key and your Publication ID. RightMessage supports one email/CRM integration per site, so disconnect any existing integrations first.

Getting your Beehiiv credentials

Before connecting, locate these two items in your Beehiiv dashboard:

  • API V2 Key — Found in your Beehiiv account settings under API access

  • Publication ID — Starts with "pub_" (example: pub_11ebcfc9-38ee-405d-a0e4-c2f6072133f1)

Connecting Beehiiv to RightMessage

  1. Navigate to Integrations in your RightMessage dashboard

  2. Click the Beehiiv card under Email Marketing Platforms

  3. Enter your API V2 Key and Publication ID

  4. Click Connect

When successful, you'll see a green "Connection status: OK" badge that auto-refreshes every 30 seconds. If you see a red badge with an authentication error, verify your API key and Publication ID are correct.

After connecting, republish your site to ensure all changes take effect.

How data syncs between platforms

The Beehiiv integration is bidirectional, meaning data flows both ways:

Beehiiv → RightMessage:

  • Subscriber status and custom field data

  • Segment information for personalization rules

  • Used for visitor identification and content targeting

RightMessage → Beehiiv:

  • New subscribers from RightMessage forms and quizzes

  • Quiz and survey responses written to custom fields

  • Site behavior data that triggers Beehiiv automations

Custom fields must be pre-created in Beehiiv as structured fields. Beehiiv doesn't support tags or lists through the API, so these won't sync.

Identifying newsletter subscribers on your site

To automatically identify Beehiiv subscribers when they click through from your newsletter, add the parameter ?rm_bh={email} to your links:

https://yoursite.com/landing-page?rm_bh={email}

RightMessage will recognize the subscriber and apply any personalization rules based on their Beehiiv data.

Using Beehiiv data for personalization

Once connected, you can reference Beehiiv custom fields to influence what content or offers people see on your website.

Common use cases include:

  • Skip opt-in forms for existing subscribers

  • Show segment-specific content based on Beehiiv data

  • Display personalized messaging using custom field values

  • Hide newsletter signup CTAs for active subscribers

Triggering Beehiiv automations

To trigger Beehiiv email sequences when visitors complete actions on your site:

  1. Create your automation in Beehiiv

  2. Set the trigger to "Add by API"

  3. Configure your RightMessage form or flow to submit to Beehiiv

  4. Map quiz responses or form data to Beehiiv custom fields

When someone completes the form or quiz, RightMessage pushes their data to Beehiiv and fires your automation.
