The Personalization Editing Tool
To personalize the different elements on your site, the campaign editing area provides a personalization editing tool with options available for personalizing the element in different ways.
Opening the Personalization Editing Tool
To adjust an element of your website using the personalization editing tool, hover over the website in the preview pane and click on an element. A box will display under the element.
Click ‘Start Personalizing This …’.
Personalization Editing Tool Options
The personalization editing tool displays options to personalize an element in various ways. The options shown in the tool will change based on the type of element selected.
Below are some of the basic changes that can be made easily and quickly when personalizing an element:
Identifying the different types of personalizations on an element.
Within the personalization editing tool, different options in the ‘Modify’ settings will indicate if an option has been used for a personalization, either for the current segment you are viewing or another segment.
Modify X: The name of the element being personalized.
For: The name of the segment being personalized.
Bright Blue Icon and Text: Indicates the option has been personalized for the currently selected segment.
White Icon And Text: Indicates the option has not been used in any personalizations.
Faded Blue Icon and Text: Indicates the option has been personalized for another segment.
The ‘Modify’ settings will provide options to make changes to the content, visibility and look of a selected element.
Element Name: The type of element being personalized
For: The segment the personalization will be applied to.
Destination URL: Enter a URL to change the destination a link element will direct visitors to.
Text: Enter text to customize the displayed content.
Visibility: Use the drop down to specify how the element will display on the page. You can choose to show or hide the element or leave the element unmodified.
Additional Styles: Enter a CSS ‘property’ and ‘value’ to adjust the look of an element. Add a new row(s) to make multiple design changes.
Image URL: Enter a URL to change the image displayed in an image element.
Affected Pages Settings
The ‘Affected Pages’ settings will provide options to specify the URL(s) where personalizations will be visible.
By default, the ‘Affected Pages’ setting will add the page the personalization is being applied to.
Click the pink ‘+’ icon to add a new row.
Add the page slug to the field provided.
To remove a URL from the ‘Affected Pages’ list, click the trash can icon beside the URL.
For ‘parent’ pages where there are associated ‘child’ pages, use an asterisk in the slug field. This is called a ‘wildcard’ - e.g. blog/* - where all child pages of the blog page - e.g. blog/member-posts/ - will be affected by the personalization.
Affected Elements Settings
The ‘Affected Elements’ settings will provide options to change the element(s) a personalization is associated with, select additional elements for the personalization and view the CSS selectors RightMessage will apply the personalizations to.
Matched Elements: The number of elements on the page affected by the personalization
Pick A Different Element: Click to change the element(s) the personalization is associated with
Add Extra Elements: Click to associate the personalization with multiple elements on the page.
View/Customize Selector: Click to view the CSS selector(s) of the element(s) being targeted by the personalization.
