Connect RightMessage using Google Tag Manager
Rather than paste the RightMessage tracking code into the header area of your website, it’s possible to add the RightMessage tracking snippet to your Google Tag Manager.
If you have a Google Tag Manager created and integrated with your website, follow the below instructions.
Create a new tag in your Google Tag Manager account
In the left hand sidebar, click ‘Tags’.
The ‘Tag’ screen will display the details of any tags already associated with the Google Tag profile. At the top of the list, click ‘New’.
In the next screen, add a name for the new tag and click on the tag to begin the tag set up process.
From the list of available tags, select the ‘Custom HTML’ option.
In the ‘HTML’ field provided, paste the RightMessage tracking script.
Scroll under the HTML code area and click on the icon in the trigger box to set up when the tag is to be triggered.
Select ‘All Pages’ as the Trigger.
To save the new tag, click the blue ‘Save’ button in the top right corner.
To add the new tag to your Google Tag Manager account click the blue ‘Submit’ button.
Add a version name and details that can be used to track when the tag was added for future reference.
Click the blue ‘Publish’ button once done.
Check the RightMessage snippet is detected
After the changes have been published, be sure to clear any caching associated with your website, as well as your browser cache.
In your RightMessage account, open the tracking snippet preview and click the yellow ‘Check Again’ button. RightMessage will check your website to see if the tracking script has now been enabled.
If the tracking script is detected, the RightMessage tracking snippet box will display ‘Snippet Detected’ in the bottom left corner.
