# Personalize your website for your Kit subscribers based on their tags.

You’ve tagged your Kit subscribers by what they bought, what they’re interested in, and which freebie brought them in. But when they click through to your site, they get the same opt-in and the same pitch as a total stranger.

RightMessage connects to Kit (formerly ConvertKit) and recognizes subscribers when they click a link in your emails. Then it uses their tags and custom fields to change what they see: a different headline, offer, or call to action for each group. Quiz and survey answers go back to Kit as tags or fields, so your emails get smarter too.

## What changes when your website knows who’s on your list.

### Stop asking subscribers to subscribe

Your opt-in is for people who aren’t on your list yet. Once RightMessage recognizes a Kit subscriber, swap that opt-in for whatever they should see next: a product, a course, or an invitation to book a call.

New signups from RightMessage forms go to the Kit form or tag you choose, so the automations you’ve already built in Kit keep running.

### Save every answer in Kit

Ask a quick question in a quiz, survey, or popup, and save the answer on the subscriber in Kit as a tag or custom field. Map each answer to a tag you already use, or create a new custom field without leaving RightMessage.

Now your emails can follow up on what people actually told you, not what you guessed from a click.

### Give every tag its own pitch

Show customers what’s next instead of what they already bought. Show beginners the starter offer and experienced subscribers the advanced one. You choose the tags and fields that matter, and RightMessage changes the headline, copy, image, or call to action for each group.

Visitors who aren’t on your list, or haven’t been recognized yet, see your original page.

## Your Kit data, plus what people do on your site.

Use Kit tags and custom fields for subscribers RightMessage recognizes. For everyone else, personalize from the page they’re on, where they came from, and what they’ve told you.

### Recognize subscribers from your emails

Turn on Kit’s subscriber ID setting, and every broadcast and sequence link tells RightMessage who clicked. Signups through RightMessage forms are recognized too. After that, RightMessage remembers that browser on later visits.

### Kit tags

Show different content to customers and prospects, or by interest, product, or the lead magnet someone downloaded. Use the tags you already have.

### Custom fields

Use any Kit custom field, like role, goal, or experience level, along with first name and email.

### Answers saved back to Kit

Quiz and survey answers go to the subscriber in Kit as tags or custom fields, ready for your next email or automation.

### Pages viewed

Personalize based on which pages visitors have viewed, how many times they've visited, and what content they've consumed on your site.

### Ad campaigns & referrers

Segment by UTM parameters, referral source, or specific campaigns. Match your website content to the ad or link that brought visitors in.

### New vs returning visitors

Show different content to first-time visitors versus people who've been to your site before. Tailor the experience based on familiarity.

### Geographic location

Personalize by country, region, or city. Show local pricing, region-specific offers, or testimonials from nearby customers.

## Setting up Kit.

- Connect Kit with the API key and API secret from your Kit developer settings.
- In Kit, open Settings, then Advanced, and turn on Add subscriber_id parameter in email links. Kit then adds a subscriber ID to the links in your broadcasts and sequences.
- Map each quiz or survey answer to a Kit tag or custom field.
- Send new signups to a Kit form or tag. Kit needs one of those to create a subscriber.
- Test with a subscriber you control: click a link in a real email, then check your personalized page in that browser.

## Frequently asked questions.

How do I personalize my website for my Kit (ConvertKit) subscribers based on their tags?+

Connect Kit to RightMessage and turn on Kit’s Add subscriber_id parameter in email links setting. When a subscriber clicks a link in your emails, RightMessage recognizes them and reads their tags and custom fields. Then you choose what each tag sees: a different headline, offer, image, or call to action on the pages you already have. Changing existing page content starts on the Scale plan. On Grow, you can personalize the calls to action in RightMessage forms and popups.

How does RightMessage recognize a Kit subscriber?+

When they click a link in a Kit broadcast or sequence with the subscriber ID setting turned on, or when they sign up through a RightMessage form connected to a Kit form or tag. RightMessage remembers that browser on later visits. It doesn’t recognize every subscriber automatically: someone who hasn’t clicked through or signed up in that browser sees your regular page.

Can quiz and survey answers be saved to Kit as tags or custom fields?+

Yes. Map each answer to an existing Kit tag or a custom field, or create a new custom field from RightMessage. Typed answers, like a name, go to a custom field or Kit’s First name field. To add someone who isn’t in Kit yet, send the signup to a Kit form or tag.

Which Kit data can RightMessage use?+

Tags, custom fields, first name, and email for a subscriber RightMessage has recognized. It doesn’t read purchase history or email opens from Kit. To personalize for buyers, tag customers in Kit when they purchase, then target that tag.

Will this trigger my Kit automations?+

Yes, through Kit. When RightMessage adds someone to a Kit form or tag, any automation that starts from that form or tag runs as usual. RightMessage doesn’t enroll people in automations directly.

Which plan do I need for Kit?+

Kit is included on every plan, starting with Grow. Grow covers the Kit connection, quizzes, surveys, forms, and personalized calls to action in RightMessage forms and popups. Changing the headlines, images, and sections already on your site starts on Scale.
