# Preview, duplicate, pause, or delete a widget

You'll check your widget before visitors see it, make a copy, or take it off your website without deleting its shared flow.

Available on the Grow, Scale, and Pro plans.

Try your widget's content and layout before it goes live. You can also copy it, pause it, or remove it while keeping the flow that other widgets use.

You'll need project edit access. You don't need to publish to preview a draft. Pausing or deleting a live widget changes the website only after you publish, so review all pending project changes before doing that.

## Preview the flow or one step

1. Open your widget from **Widgets**.
2. Open **Choose preview step** in the preview toolbar.
3. Choose **Entire flow** to start as a new visitor, or select a listed question, offer, or form.
4. Check **Desktop** and **Phone** layouts.
5. Check **Light mode** and **Dark mode**.
6. Choose **Open full size** to see the widget without the editor's scaling.

**Entire flow** starts without remembered answers. Selecting one step lets you check its appearance, but you'll still need to follow the flow to see whether a visitor reaches it. If the flow ends before any visible content, the preview can show fallback or sample content and explain why. That sample isn't a working visitor path.

In **Design**, **Phone** also lets you change phone-specific size and spacing. Return to **Desktop** for changes intended for every device. If an AI design draft is pending, apply or discard it before checking **Phone**.

## Try it on your website

Some editor previews stop at an offer or form. Use your real website to check the complete flow and any submission.

1. Choose **Preview on your site** in the bottom bar. Use **Choose preview URL** to open the page you want to test.
2. Follow the flow, including its final action.
3. If a form sends data to your email platform, check the destination record as well as the success message.

The debugger opens at the bottom of the page. It shows what RightMessage knows about you and why it shows or hides your widget. See [testing your changes](https://rightmessage.com/help/best-practices-for-testing) to try different visitors and test submissions.

## Rename or copy your widget

Use **Rename** beside the widget name to change its internal label.

To make a copy:

1. Open **More actions** and choose **Duplicate**.
2. Confirm the duplication.
3. Review the copy's **Enabled** setting, attached flow, display rules, and design before publishing.

The copy gets a new widget ID and a name ending in `(Copy)`. It uses the same flow instead of creating another one. It also keeps the source's enabled state and display settings. An inline copy gets a new shortname, so update its [embed code](https://rightmessage.com/help/embed-a-widget) before testing it.

If you only want another widget's appearance, use **Copy from…** in **Design** instead. It doesn't copy display rules.

## Pause a live widget

1. Turn **Enabled** off.
2. [Review and publish your project changes](https://rightmessage.com/help/publishing-your-changes).
3. Visit your website in a normal session and check that the widget no longer appears.

The widget stays in your project with its content and settings. Turn it back on and publish again when you're ready to use it.

## Delete a widget

1. Open **More actions** and choose **Delete**.
2. Read and confirm the deletion warning.
3. Publish when you're ready to remove it from the live website.
4. For an inline widget, remove any unused placeholder HTML from your page builder too.

Deleting a widget removes its placement, not its shared questions, forms, offers, or flow. Other widgets can still use that flow. The previously published widget stays on your website until you publish the deletion.

## Check the change on your website

After publishing, visit your website like any other visitor. A widget you've paused or deleted should be gone. A widget you've changed should show the content and design you checked.

If the preview and website behave differently, use [widget troubleshooting](https://rightmessage.com/help/troubleshoot-widget-display) to check the published settings, page match, trigger, browser history, and flow path.
