# Create and personalize an offer

You'll create an offer that sends visitors to a useful page, then change its wording to match what you know about each person.

Available on the Grow, Scale, and Pro plans.

An offer gives visitors a reason to take the next step and a button that takes them there. You can change its wording based on what they've told you, without making a separate offer for every audience.

Pick a real page you'd like people to visit. For example, [WorkForge](https://workforge.rightmessage.com) could invite visitors to [get in touch](https://workforge.rightmessage.com/contact.html), with different wording for people working alone and those managing a team.

You'll need project edit access. To personalize the wording, [create the question or segment group](https://rightmessage.com/help/how-we-segment-your-visitors) you'll use first. You can create the offer before the flow that shows it. Your website needs the project snippet before a widget can show the offer there.

## Create your offer

1. Open **Offers** under **Convert** and choose **New offer**.
2. Choose **Blank**.
3. Under **Where should the button go?**, enter the real page URL you picked.
4. Enter an **Offer name** for your team.
5. Choose **Create offer**.

The editor opens on **Content**. You'll add the offer to a flow later so visitors can see it.

## Write something that works for everyone

1. Set your **Headline** and add an optional **Description**.
2. Set **Button text** to tell people what happens when they choose it.
3. Check **Link URL** and **Open in a new tab**.
4. Add an image if your widget theme displays one.

WorkForge could use `Make your next project easier to manage` with `Talk to us` on the button. This default wording should make sense even when you don't know anything about the visitor.

## Make the wording fit their answer

1. Select the words or sentence you'd like to personalize.
2. Open the phrase personalization control.
3. Choose the question or segment group that decides the wording.
4. Enter a fallback for people whose answer you don't know.
5. Enter the wording for each answer you'd like to personalize.
6. Choose **Save**.

You need a selected group and a nonempty fallback before you can save. The teal phrase shows the wording for the audience you're previewing. For WorkForge, a team answer could change the headline to `Keep everyone clear on the next step`.

## Review the combinations

1. Use **Previous variant** and **Next variant** to see the different combinations.
2. Filter by an answer to check that audience.
3. Check **Not known**, too.
4. Turn on **Highlight personalized text** to see which words change.
5. Choose **Clear** to remove the preview filters.

These versions follow people's answers. They aren't randomly assigned A/B test variations. The [offer content reference](https://rightmessage.com/help/offer-content-reference) covers combination counts, personalized images, copying offers, and managing shared offers.

## Put it in a flow and try it

1. Add an offer node to your flow and choose the offer you've created.
2. Check that the offer and widget are enabled.
3. Choose **Preview on your site** in the bottom bar. Your draft opens on your real website with the debugger docked at the bottom.
4. Follow the full path to the offer in its widget. Check each audience, including someone with no known answer.

A preview filter changes what you see in the editor, not a visitor's real answers. Follow [testing your changes](https://rightmessage.com/help/best-practices-for-testing) to check what puts visitors in each audience.

Once you're happy with it, [publish your changes](https://rightmessage.com/help/publishing-your-changes). Visit your normal website and follow the offer's link.

When visitors see the right wording and reach the page you intended, your offer is working. Next, [see how often people choose it](https://rightmessage.com/help/widget-and-offer-results).
