# Address question reference

You can collect a visitor's mailing address and save it to one CRM field or separate fields for each part.

Available on the Grow, Scale, and Pro plans.

An **Address** question collects a street address, city, region, postal code, and country. You can save the complete address or map its parts to separate fields in your email platform or CRM.

## When to use it

Use an address question when you need to know where to send something. [WorkForge](https://workforge.rightmessage.com) could ask where to send a printed workshop workbook.

The fields support browser autofill. They don't look up addresses, check that an address exists, or verify that deliveries can reach it.

## Settings

**Field text** has a **Label** and **Placeholder** for each part. Empty overrides use the defaults shown in gray.

| Part | Default label | Default placeholder |
| ----------- | ------------------ | -------------------- |
| Street | **Street address** | Empty |
| City | **City** | Empty |
| Region | **State / Region** | Empty |
| Postal code | **Postal code** | Empty |
| Country | **Country** | **Select a country** |

The country field has the complete country list and preselects the visitor's detected country when available. Settings that pin or hide countries in a Country question don't apply here.

**Required** is off for a new question, so visitors can skip it. A submitted address must include street, city, and country. Region and postal code aren't mandatory, even with **Required** on.

See [shared question settings](https://rightmessage.com/help/question-settings-reference) for wording and button labels.

## How answers are stored and synced

The complete answer joins the nonempty parts with commas. Structured parts remain available in response exports.

**Save answers to** supports **One field** or **One field per part**. A new unmapped address opens per-part mapping. You can map Street, City, Region, Postcode, and Country independently. You can't use whole-answer and per-part destinations together.

To switch a populated mapping:

1. Choose **One field** or **One field per part**.
2. Review **Clear existing mappings?**.
3. Choose **Switch and clear** to remove the existing destinations, or **Cancel** to keep them.

See [answer sync](https://rightmessage.com/help/synchronizing-contact-data-with-your-email-platform-or-crm) for identification and destination checks.

An address answer doesn't automatically create a segment or an answer branch. Use [input-answer conditions](https://rightmessage.com/help/conditions-answers) to compare its stored parts. A [linked form field](https://rightmessage.com/help/form-fields-reference) submits with its form.

The editor preview doesn't record answers or send data to your email platform. Existing edits autosave to the draft and affect every use after publication. The [Questions library reference](https://rightmessage.com/help/question-library-reference) covers creating and reusing questions.
