# Create and export a personalized email

You'll write an email that changes with each contact's answers, preview the wording, and copy it into your email platform to test and send.

Available on the Scale and Pro plans.

Write one email with different passages for different contacts, then copy it into the platform you already use to send email.

You'll need project editing access and a connected email platform, including access to its email editor and test-send tools. Connecting the platform gives RightMessage access to the fields you can use in your email conditions.

For this walkthrough, [map your question to a field in your email platform](https://rightmessage.com/help/synchronizing-contact-data-with-your-email-platform-or-crm). That lets you change the email based on each contact's answer. If you'd rather use other contact fields, see [email conditions and provider syntax](https://rightmessage.com/help/email-conditions-reference).

## Create the email

1. Open **Emails** under **Personalize**, then choose **New**.
2. Edit the title to give the email an internal name.
3. In **Personalize**, enter or paste your email body into **Email Content**.
4. Wait for **Saving...** to disappear. Resolve any save error before leaving.

Email records save separately from your website configuration. The project's **Publish** button doesn't send an email.

## Add an audience-specific passage

For example, [WorkForge](https://workforge.rightmessage.com) could offer growing teams an onboarding invitation and contacts with complex projects a planning guide. Its default passage could introduce both without assuming an answer.

1. Select the passage you'd like to change.
2. Choose **Conditional** in the selection toolbar, then **Question mapping**.
3. Select your mapped question.
4. Keep useful default content for a contact who matches no branch.
5. Enter the content for each answer, then choose **Add Conditional Content**.

Click an existing conditional token to edit it. **Update Conditional Content** saves your edits to the email body. **Remove** replaces the conditional with its default content.

## Preview the content

1. Read the **Preview** beside the editor.
2. Open **Test Variables** and choose values for each audience.
3. Check every branch, the fallback, and any first-name or other text variable.
4. Fix any **Liquid Error** before copying.

This preview shows how your wording changes. You'll check the sending platform's template processing and inbox layouts in the next step.

## Copy into your sending platform

1. Choose **Copy** in the email header.
2. Paste into your email platform's editor, such as a draft in Kit.
3. Check the pasted formatting and conditional syntax.
4. Use the platform's preview and test send with contacts whose values cover each branch and the fallback.
5. Set recipients, subject, scheduling, and sending in that platform.

**Copy** puts HTML and plain text on your clipboard. It doesn't create a broadcast, send a test, or publish an automation. **Email Code** shows the stored template, but doesn't translate it into another platform's language. A connected platform may not accept every generated expression.

When your platform's test send shows the right passage for each contact, the email is ready to send. If you edit it in RightMessage later, copy and test it again.
