# Retest personalization after a website redesign

You'll update your campaign URLs and page targets after a redesign, then check each audience on the new site before going live.

Available on the Scale and Pro plans.

Keep the audience rules you've already built and make them work with your redesigned website. You'll update changed URLs, select the right elements, and check what visitors see.

You'll need project editing access, your new page URLs, and someone who can install the snippet and inspect page markup. Keep a record of your old page targets and the content each audience should see.

An unchanged URL can still have completely different elements after a redesign. Moving to a new platform doesn't automatically update your CSS selectors.

## Update the page rules

First, confirm that the new domain is configured for your project and the correct RightMessage snippet is installed there. That lets your existing project run on the new site.

1. Open the campaign's **Experiences** tab.
2. Choose **Bulk update URLs**.
3. Select the **Current URL** to replace.
4. Enter the new **Domain** and **Path** separately. An empty path becomes the homepage, `/`.
5. Read the preview and affected-action count. The update changes every matching page entry across the campaign's variants.
6. Choose **Update URLs**.

For the single-page controls, see [campaign URL settings](https://rightmessage.com/help/campaign-settings-reference).

## Retarget changed elements

1. Open each affected page in the visual editor.
2. Select each audience's existing changes.
3. Check the **Target** tab and the highlight on the page.
4. Replace old selectors with stable IDs or classes from the new site. Recheck Smart Match targets too.
5. Review text, image dimensions, links, and hidden sections at desktop and mobile widths.

A changed class can break a selector that uses it. Smart Match can help when the recorded text remains, but you still need to check which element it selects.

## Remove retired page targets

On the **Experiences** tab, use **Delete** beside a page that should no longer receive changes. Other page targets on the same action stay in place. If an action has no pages left, RightMessage removes it.

## Preview the new site

1. Choose **Preview on your site** in the dashboard's bottom bar.
2. Use **Choose preview URL** to open a page on the new site.
3. Use the debugger docked at the bottom to check matching visitors, unmatched visitors, and overlapping audiences.
4. Repeat for each changed page.

The [testing checklist](https://rightmessage.com/help/best-practices-for-testing) covers how to try those visitors before publishing.

## Go live

Review the full project draft, then [publish the changes](https://rightmessage.com/help/publishing-your-changes). Visit the new domain without forced debugger overrides.

When each audience sees its intended content and the original page still works, your campaigns are ready for the redesigned site.

You can keep using campaigns on stable pages while a redesign is underway. Allow time to retest any page whose markup is about to change. Next, [review your campaign's performance](https://rightmessage.com/help/campaign-settings-reference#results-and-lift).
