# Upload, select, and manage shared images

You'll add images to your project, choose where to use them, and adjust the crop. You can also replace one use or delete a file you no longer need.

Upload an image once and reuse it in your offers, widget designs, and answer choices. **Media Gallery** keeps those files together so you can choose the same image wherever you need it.

You'll need edit access to the item that will use the image. Prepare a PNG, JPG, GIF, or SVG file no larger than 2 MB. The gallery accepts one file at a time. Its upload control doesn't accept WebP or import images from a URL.

## Add an image and choose it

1. Open the image control in your offer, widget, or question editor.
2. Choose the empty image area or its replace control to open **Media Gallery**.
3. Drag your file into the upload area, or choose **click to browse**.
4. Wait for the file to finish loading.
5. Choose the uploaded image tile to use it.

Uploading adds the file to your gallery. Choosing its tile assigns it to the current image control and closes the gallery.

For example, [WorkForge](https://workforge.rightmessage.com) can upload a playbook cover once and use it in several offers. Choosing another image for one offer doesn't replace the image in the others.

Ordinary builder images belong to the current project. User images, such as an agency logo, have a separate gallery. If you open another project's gallery, you won't see this project's files there.

## Keep the important part in view

A focal point tells a cropped image which part to keep visible. It doesn't change the original file.

1. If the image control supports focal positioning, choose the important part of the image preview.
2. Check the crop in the widget where visitors will see it.
3. In offer image settings, choose **Reset** to remove the adjustment if needed.

Before you set a focal point, the shared image control starts at 50% across and 30% down. Small icon previews don't show the focal-point crosshair.

## Replace an image in one place

Use the replace control to choose another gallery image for that field. To remove the image from the field, use the unlink control instead. Unlinking keeps the file in **Media Gallery** so you can use it elsewhere.

Replacing or removing an offer image clears its saved focal point. If your images change by answer, **Use default** removes that answer's override and leaves the shared file in place.

Check the item with its new image, or without an image, then publish the draft changes when you're ready.

## Delete a file you no longer need

> **Deletion affects the live website immediately**
>
> Deleting a gallery file isn't a draft change. Every live use of that image can stop displaying it immediately, without a project publish. Use unlink instead if you only want to remove the image from one place.

1. Open the image's delete control in **Media Gallery**.
2. Read **Really Delete This Image?**.
3. Choose **Delete** to remove the shared file, or **Cancel** to keep it.

The gallery refreshes after deletion. The stored file is gone, not just its use in your current draft.

## If an image is missing

Wait for the loading indicator to finish, then check the project and whether you're in a project or user gallery. For a failed upload, check the format and 2 MB limit.

If the image is in the gallery but missing from a widget, check which image you've selected, any answer-specific override, and whether the widget theme shows images. [Widget design settings](https://rightmessage.com/help/widget-design-reference) covers background images and image layout.

Once the image looks right in the widget visitors will see, you're ready to use it. For different images based on what visitors tell you, see [personalized offer images](https://rightmessage.com/help/offer-content-reference).
