# Inspect a visitor's activity and profile

See what someone did on your website, what they answered, and what your email platform knows about them, all from their visitor profile.

Available on the Pro plan.

A visitor's profile brings their website activity, answers, and contact data together. Use it to understand what someone has seen, check a saved answer, or find out why they saw a particular offer.

You'll need visitor-profile access in the selected project and activity recorded by its installed snippet. To see your email platform's data too, connect it and identify a contact it can look up. Anonymous visitors can still have activity and answers without a contact record.

## Find the visitor

For a test visit, have your synthetic contact's email, approximate visit time, and page URL handy.

1. Select **Activity** in the sidebar.
2. Choose the date range containing the visit.
3. Enter the email, location, or page in **Find by email, location or URL**.
4. Use **Known** or **Anonymous** to narrow the list if needed.
5. Add a **Source**, **Segment**, or **Visited URL** filter when useful.
6. Choose **Pause live** if new activity makes the list hard to read.

The list shows the visitor, arrival and page details, **Intent**, and **Last seen**. If you can't find the visit, check the date range and clear narrowing filters.

## Open their profile

1. Select the visitor's name or visitor control to open quick look.
2. Check the location, device, browser, and recent activity to confirm you've found the right person.
3. Choose **Open full profile**.
4. Read the **Activity** timeline.
5. Open **Segmentation** to see matched groups and choice answers.
6. If available, open **Responses** to see recorded written responses.
7. Open your connected provider's **Data** tab to inspect its contact fields.

A profile can combine activity connected to the same identified contact. An unidentified second device still needs its own identification event. See [how identification works](https://rightmessage.com/help/how-do-we-identify-returning-subscribers-or-contacts).

## Check the detail you came for

For a missing answer, compare the question or response with **Segmentation**. Input answers don't create a segment for every value.

For a missing contact update, open the provider's **Data** tab and choose **Sync now**. This reads fresh provider data. It doesn't resend all historical answers. Check the contact directly in your email platform too.

To investigate targeting for an identified person, choose **View site as them**. It opens a signed debugger session on their latest known page or the project's configured domain. It isn't available for anonymous visitors, and it doesn't send an email.

The [profile data reference](https://rightmessage.com/help/profile-data-reference) explains every control and empty state.

You have a useful answer when the profile's records explain what happened. A generated summary or **Intent** label alone won't tell you what caused a conversion or why a sync failed. If you used a test visitor, [exclude their activity from your reports](https://rightmessage.com/help/exclude-test-visitors) next.
