# The ConvertBox alternative that keeps working after the popup closes.

ConvertBox is built to put a targeted message in front of the right visitor. RightMessage is built for what happens next. When someone answers your survey, clicks an agency ad or turns out to be an existing customer, we change the headline, the offer and the call to action on the site you already have, not just the next popup.

RightMessagevsConvertBox

TL;DR

## The short version

DimensionRightMessageConvertBox

What it is

RightMessageWebsite personalization for marketing teams and agencies, with popups, surveys, quizzes and built-in A/B testing.

ConvertBoxAn on-site messaging tool for popups, bars, takeovers, embedded forms and segmentation surveys.

What changes on your site

RightMessagePopups, bars and embedded offers on every plan. From Scale, the headlines, calls to action, images and sections on the pages you already have.

ConvertBoxThe ConvertBox itself: slide-ins, center modals, sticky bars, full page takeovers and embeds in your content.

Where the data comes from

RightMessageThe ad or link someone clicked, the pages they've viewed, their survey and quiz answers, and your email platform or CRM once they're identified.

ConvertBoxPage views, sessions, URL parameters, referrer, location, device, ConvertBox activity, and email platform lists and tags for identified visitors.

What happens to an answer

RightMessageIt stays with the visitor, so they aren't asked twice, and it's saved to the contact in your email platform or CRM once they're identified.

ConvertBoxIt can route the next step, score a quiz and add the contact to lists, tags or automations in your CRM.

Testing and measurement

RightMessageSplit tests of questions, forms, offers and flows on every plan. A holdback on every campaign from Scale, and A/B tests of the page or each audience on Pro.

ConvertBoxA/B variations of a ConvertBox built in its editor, with stats for each variation, step and element.

Who it's for

RightMessageMarketing teams, paid-traffic teams and agencies who want each visitor to see the right page.

ConvertBoxBusinesses that want targeted on-site messages, lead forms and surveys on any site.

Starting price

RightMessagePopups, surveys and on-site CTAs on Grow, $99/mo, or $79/mo billed annually. Page changes on Scale, $249/mo, or $199/mo billed annually.

ConvertBoxA $495 one-time lifetime account for 10 sites and 250,000 views a month, which ConvertBox says may close or increase in price without notice.

The complete comparison

## Your popup learned something. Your page didn't.

Someone clicks through from your ad, and a ConvertBox asks what best describes their business. They pick Services, see a matching offer and close it. Then they're back on a page written for everyone, and the next page they visit is too.

RightMessage asks the same question in a popup, bar, toaster, takeover or embedded widget. The difference is what happens to the answer. It stays with that visitor, so the headline, proof and call to action on this page and the next one can speak to a services business, without you building a separate page for it.

Quizzes, surveys and on-site CTAs are on every plan. Using answers to change your pages starts on Scale.

A popup from our demo project. Every widget type can ask the same question.

## Stop pitching customers what they already bought

ConvertBox can [hide a message](https://support.convertbox.com/knowledge-base/visitor-targeting-rules-overview/) from people who are on a list or have a tag in your email platform. That stops the popup from asking a customer to book a demo. The page underneath still asks.

With RightMessage, the page changes too. Once a customer is identified, by clicking a link in one of your emails or filling out a form, and your email platform or CRM says they've bought, Book a demo becomes Upgrade to Business. Everyone else still sees the demo offer, and nobody has to maintain a second page.

Quizzes, surveys and on-site CTAs are on every plan. Using answers to change your pages starts on Scale.

1. What a new visitor sees

2. What an existing customer sees

## Ask each question once, and keep the answer

ConvertBox surveys can score answers, skip steps and tag the contact in your CRM based on what they picked. A RightMessage flow does that too, and it keeps the answer after the flow ends.

Set a widget to [ask only the questions you don't know](https://rightmessage.com/help/returning-visitors-and-missing-answers), and a returning visitor won't be asked twice. Once someone's identified, we save their answers to the contact in your email platform or CRM as the fields or tags your platform supports. It works the other way too. If a contact already has a matching field or tag, we put them in that segment without asking again.

![Widget question handling set to ask only questions we don't know the answer to, so returning visitors aren't asked twice](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fhelp%2Fscreens%2Fbuilders-widget-question-handling.light.webp\&w=3840\&q=90)![Widget question handling set to ask only questions we don't know the answer to, so returning visitors aren't asked twice](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fhelp%2Fscreens%2Fbuilders-widget-question-handling.dark.webp\&w=3840\&q=90)

## Where ConvertBox goes further

ConvertBox has [built-in countdown timers](https://convertbox.com/) for scheduled and evergreen deadlines, and it can send people to another page when the timer runs out. It can also embed other tools inside the box, like a video, a scheduling calendar or a shopping cart. We don't have countdown timers.

What we do instead is make the offer itself fit the person. One offer can change its headline and description by answer, so a services business and a software company see different pitches without you building a box for each.

![One offer whose headline varies by work type and whose description varies by primary goal, giving 49 versions from two questions](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fhelp%2Fscreens%2Foffers-personalized-content.light.webp\&w=3840\&q=90)![One offer whose headline varies by work type and whose description varies by primary goal, giving 49 versions from two questions](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fhelp%2Fscreens%2Foffers-personalized-content.dark.webp\&w=3840\&q=90)

Example from our demo project.

## The pricing picture

ConvertBox currently sells a one-time $495 [lifetime account](https://convertbox.com/) for 10 sites and 250,000 views a month, and its checkout offers a Pro upgrade for 50 sites and 500,000 views. Its homepage warns that the offer may close or increase in price without notice.

Our prices are on our [pricing page](https://rightmessage.com/pricing). They're per project, and more traffic doesn't raise them. Popups, surveys and on-site CTAs are on Grow at $99/mo, or $79/mo billed annually. Changing your pages starts on Scale at $249/mo, or $199/mo billed annually.

![Bars labeled TRAFFIC climb from left to right while an orange line marked YOUR PRICE stays flat across all of them](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fcompare%2Fillustrations%2Fflat-project-pricing.webp\&w=3840\&q=75)

## Start with one campaign

You don't need to redesign your site or swap out your marketing stack. Start with one campaign.

Pick the ConvertBox that gets the most views and rebuild it as a RightMessage widget, keeping the question that tells you the most about a visitor. Connect your email platform or CRM so answers reach the contact once someone's identified. Then, on Scale, use that answer to change one headline on the page your ads already send people to. Let the holdback show what it adds, and expand from there. Agencies do the same for each client, from their own account.

![Four page outlines labeled YOUR SITE stay as they are except for one orange headline on a single page, marked ONE CHANGE](https://rightmessage.com/_next/image?url=%2Fcompare%2Fillustrations%2Fone-campaign-setup.webp\&w=3840\&q=75)

> “I’ve seen jaws drop when I show companies this tool.”

## Which one fits your job?

RightMessage

### Pick RightMessage if a visitor's answer should change more than the next popup.

- You want survey answers, ad clicks and customer status to change the headline, offer and call to action on pages you already have.
- You want returning visitors and known contacts to skip questions they've already answered.
- You want answers saved to the contact in your email platform or CRM, and a holdback that shows what personalization adds.
- You want published per-project pricing and a 14-day trial with every Pro feature and no card.

That's marketing teams, paid-traffic teams and the agencies that run their sites.

ConvertBox

### Pick ConvertBox if the on-site message is the whole job.

- You want countdown timers with deadline redirects inside your popups.
- You want to embed other tools, like a video or a scheduling calendar, inside the message.
- You'd rather pay once for a lifetime account than a monthly or annual plan.

If that's all you need, ConvertBox covers it at a one-time price.

## Frequently asked questions

Is RightMessage a good ConvertBox alternative?+

Yes, if you want what a visitor tells your popup to shape the rest of their visit. We have popups, bars, toasters, takeovers and embedded widgets on every plan, with surveys, quizzes and offers. From Scale, the same answers can change the headlines, calls to action and sections on the pages you already have. It isn't a match for ConvertBox's countdown timers or its embeds of other tools.

How much does ConvertBox cost compared with RightMessage?+

ConvertBox currently sells a $495 one-time lifetime account for 10 sites and 250,000 views a month, and its homepage warns the offer may close or increase in price without notice. Its checkout offers a Pro upgrade for 50 sites and 500,000 views a month. Grow $99, Scale $249, or Pro $499 per month, or $79, $199, or $399 per month billed annually. The plans have no per-visitor or contact fees. Every plan includes hosted landing pages (Pages). Website personalization and holdback measurement start on Scale, and page and audience A/B tests are on Pro. Lead alerts are an optional add-on on every plan, priced by alerted leads from $49 a month for 50 ($39 a month billed annually), with 1,000 a month included on Pro. Prices last checked October 24, 2026.

Which RightMessage plan do I need to replace ConvertBox?+

It depends on whether you want answers to change your pages. Popups, surveys, quizzes, forms and on-site CTAs are on Grow ($99/mo, or $79/mo billed annually). Changing headlines, calls to action and sections on your pages, and measuring that against a holdback, starts on Scale ($249/mo, or $199/mo billed annually). Every new project starts with a 14-day trial that includes every Pro feature, and you don't need a card.

Can RightMessage use the lists and tags in my email platform?+

Yes, once a visitor is identified and when your plan includes that integration. Someone becomes identified by filling out a RightMessage form, submitting a supported form on your site, or clicking an identifying link in one of your emails. From then on we can read their fields and tags, and we save their new answers back to the contact. Your platform may take a moment to process each update. Connecting your account doesn't load your whole list into the browser.

How do I move from ConvertBox to RightMessage?+

Keep your site, your CMS and your email platform. Add our script, connect your email platform or CRM, and rebuild your busiest ConvertBox as a RightMessage widget first. Check that answers reach the contact record, then move the next one. While you switch, run each popup in only one tool so the same visitor doesn't see two.

Has anyone switched from ConvertBox to RightMessage?+

Yes. Heidi Weinberg of Sew Heidi moved her 15+ lead magnet forms to ConvertBox for its A/B testing, then decided to move back. We walked her team through it, and every form was rebuilt in RightMessage within 72 hours. That's one switch we helped with, not a standard timeline. Her full story is on our Sew Heidi customer page.

Can an agency run RightMessage for its clients?+

Yes. Agency accounts get a branded signup link for clients, and you open each client's project from your own account. A good first campaign is the page the client already sends paid traffic to.
